Puerto Rico Maternity Beach Session

Maternity, Portraits

I AM SO EXCITED to share Jonathon and Priscilla’s Puerto Rico maternity beach session! You know the emoji with the heart eyes? That was my face when I saw them get out of their uber. They were just glowing and I love, love, LOVED their outfit choices! They had a perfect golden hour beach session. The sun was golden, the wind was blowing and they were glowing; a whole VIBE. Read along to find out whats important to consider when picking your outfit, why I loved Jonathon and Priscilla’s outfit choices and see my favorites images from their maternity beach session in Puerto Rico.

What to wear?

I think I’m speaking mostly to the ladies on this part of the blog. I say this because majority of the time it’s the ladies I’m communicating with when booking and they’re the ones with questions about what to wear. Being a woman myself I totally understand these feelings of excitement but also of a little overwhelm trying to figure out what to wear. I get it, and it’s for this reason that I created a Style Guide for all my sessions. This guide has all the tips for the location you choose, and includes tips to help you decide what to wear for yourself and your family. I created it with the goal to help your session be as fun and stress-free as possible! However, it’s important to keep in mind something Priscilla said to me during the session…

When I saw Jonathon and Priscilla I immediately told them how GREAT they looked! Priscilla said she wanted to feel like a goddess. I loved that, and I think that’s important to think about when deciding what to wear. Ask yourself, how do you want to feel? What do have that makes you feel good and confident? Choose something you feel good in because this will show in your images.

What style of clothing makes you feel good?

So first decide what style of clothing makes you feel confident. I always say, “say yes to the dress!” but think about what type of dress best suits you. Is it a casual dress, semi-formal dress or formal dress? Once you figure out which style best suits you, this will then help you, help your man decide what to wear. If you choose to wear a semi-formal dress, you’ll want to help him choose a semi-formal outfit. When both of your attires/vibes match, you’ve hit GOLD. Notice, I didn’t say colors. Colors don’t have to match, but rather the styles should.

Priscilla’s short semi-formal dress paired perfectly with Jonathon’s button up collar shirt and slacks with no tie. Think about it, it would look a little odd if she was dressed semi-formal and he was dressed casual in jeans or shorts. Also, their use of accessories was the cherry on top. Statement earrings for her and a watch for him. Simple accessories that really tie the look together. Lastly, I want to add that dresses look amazing with the wind at the beach. It’s important to take the length into consideration depending on the wind at the location you choose. Priscilla’s dress was the perfect length. It was long enough to flow in the wind, but not too short to where the wind could lift it too high. Just wait till you see for yourself!
