Who doesn’t love a beach session in Puerto Rico?! You can never go wrong with scheduling your session on the beach. Andrew and Jenny’s Maternity session was such a dream! The day was beautiful and the time that we scheduled the session allowed us to capture different light which made the session bright, vibrant and dreamy. Today I’m sharing a little about Andrew and Jenny’s maternity session at Condado Beach, as well as a key factor that everything revolves around when scheduling your session. Stay to the end to see some of my favorite images from their session.
Light
What do you think is the biggest factor in capturing beautiful images? I’ll give you a hint, it’s the name of the subheading. For photographers Light is EVERYTHING. We are experts at finding the perfect light for our style. It’s my first priority. Since I am a natural light photographer, this means I choose the time, location and spot of where to start the session based on the light. Andrew and Jenny’s session gave us everything. It started out with zero clouds in the sky, bright light. This allowed us to capture some beautifully bright and vibrant images at the beginning. Then the sun started setting and a couple clouds came in to give me my favorite golden hour, dreamy light. It’s for this reason that I always schedule my sessions about 1.5 hours before sunset or 30 minutes before sunrise.
Why am I sharing this?
If you’re not a photographer, you might be wondering, “why do you feel the need to tell me about ‘light’ Ivana?” I know you’re not a photographer BUT, you might be wanting or planning a photo session for yourself in the future. So all this to say, trust your photographer. No doubt you’ve looked at their work, you love it and are expecting your own photos to look like their style. Remember that they are experts in light. They know when and where to find the perfect light that you love seeing in their work, and want for your own session. Sometimes the best time might not be the most convenient time for you personally. However, if you’re investing in a session, its worth making the adjustment in your schedule to have your session during the best time to get the pictures you’re dreaming of.
Andrew & Jenny
Now Andrew and Jenny were awesome! I didn’t have to convince them to trust me about when to schedule their session. I simply wanted to share this because while editing their photos I came to love the variety we were able to get with the different types of light. These two are so sweet and such a cute couple. I am very excited for your new chapter together Andrew and Jenny. Thank you for choosing me to capture such precious moments of you three.
